Saudi Arabia’ Ministry of Health has introduced new health regulations requiring all Umrah pilgrims to receive a meningitis vaccine at least 10 days before their departure. This rule, effective from February 10, is now a compulsory requirement for all travelers heading to the kingdom for Umrah.
Vaccination Requirements for Umrah Pilgrims
To comply with Saudi Arabia’s updated health guidelines, all Umrah pilgrims must:
- Receive either the Meningococcal ACYWX (polysaccharide conjugate) vaccine or the Meningococcal quadrivalent (ACYW-135) polysaccharide vaccine.
- Ensure the vaccine is administered at least 10 days before arrival in Saudi Arabia.
- Be one year of age or older, regardless of their country of origin.
- Have their vaccination verified by health authorities in their home country. The name, type, and date of administration must be clearly documented on the vaccination certificate.
Note that the vaccination certificate is valid for three years.
